10 woodworkers 10 Chairs
Show Us Your Seat is an exhibition featuring woodworkers along the Front Range who will design and build a chair in honor of those who have fallen ill to ALS otherwise known as Lou Gerhig's Disease. ALS is a motor neuron disease that causes rapidly progressive muscle weakness. Specifically, the disease affects nerve cells that control the muscles that enable you to move, speak, breathe and swallow and there is no cure. Why a chair? Mobility is often the first to go with those suffering from ALS so the chair and the hands of the woodworkers who build them represent that loss.
The event will take place on September 23rd at 2pm inside the Ivywild school gym. proceeds from event support Rocky Mountain ALS Association.
The event will include food and beverage, a commemorative program highlighting the artists, a silent auction, and DJ.
